Amir-Abdollahian who has travelled to Germany on Friday to attend the 58th Munich Security Conference held meetings with foreign ministers and the UN Secretary-General on the sidelines of the conference.
On the sidelines of the 58th Munich Security Conference, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian held a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor and discussed the latest situation of bilateral ties and international issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister pointed to the vast potential for the expansion of bilateral ties in the economic and technical fields, expressing the Islamic Republic’s readiness to convene the joint commission between the two countries.
He stressed Tehran’s determination to create a balance in ties with different European countries and described relations with Slovenia as important.
For his part, the Slovenian president referred to his 2018 trip to Iran and meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, saying the visit and the follow-up that ensued were signs of Ljubljana’s will for an all-out expansion of ties with Tehran.
The two sides exchanged views on some regional and international topics of mutual interest, including the talks in Vienna.
Iranian foreign minister met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Friday night and discussed some issues of mutual interest.
Referring to the history of relations and cooperation between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian announced Iran's readiness to hold a joint commission as soon as agreed.
He also stressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand relations between the two countries in the economic, political, cultural, scientific, technical and private sectors.
The Iranian FM also pointed to the ongoing Vienna talks, saying that Iran expects the European parties to consider Iran's red lines and try to play an effective role in securing Iran's legitimate rights as a party that suffering from the unilateral and illegal withdrawal of the United States.
Annalena Baerbock, for her part, welcomed the comprehensive expansion of relations with Iran.
Referring to the JCPOA talks in Vienna, she said that the talks are at a critical juncture, and all parties need to do their utmost to get through this as soon as possible and open a new chapter.
Emphasizing respect for Iranian rights, she called for intensified efforts to reach a good agreement in Vienna.
Iranian Foreign Minister also met with Bosnian counterpart Bisera Turković in Munich on Friday.
During the meeting, the Bosnian FM announced the readiness of her country to further develop and expand relations with Iran.
Amir-Abdollahian also praised Bosnia's support for Iran in international forums, including on human rights, saying that Iran has always supported territorial sovereignty and convergence in Bosnia.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the conference.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues, especially the situation in Yemen, Afghanistan and the Vienna talks.
Iranian foreign minister called the formation of an inclusive government and the participation of all political groups in Afghanistan important and very effective in solving the problems of this country.
He stressed the need to expand and strengthen the assistance of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to neighboring Afghanistan, including Iran.
He also pointed to the Yemen crisis, stressing the importance of the role of the UN Secretary-General in resolving the crisis in Yemen and ending the aggression and war in that country.
Referring to the Vienna talks in Austria, Amir-Abdollahian said that progress has been made in the negotiation process, but the other side still has to make serious political decisions on some key issues in securing Iran's legitimate rights and interests.
Appreciating Iran for hosting Afghan migrants, Guterres, for his part, stressed the need to increase and strengthen global support and assistance to Iran for Afghan refugees and asylum seekers.
Confirming the humanitarian views and concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the crisis in Yemen, the UN chief said that peace and stability must return to Yemen and the region, and all parties and countries must help achieve a political solution in Yemen.
Iranian and Qatari foreign ministers also met and held talks on Friday.
During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed the bilateral ties between the two countries and regional issues.
Qatari FM welcomed the progress of the negotiations in Vienna, saying that the results of these negotiations are important for the region.
Referring to the upcoming visit of the Iranian President to Doha, he expressed hope that the visit will strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Minister in a meeting with his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra stressed lifting all sanctions which are inconsistent with the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA.
He emphasized the importance of the efforts made in line with bringing Tehran-Amsterdam viewpoints and implementation of bilateral agreements.
Elaborating on the latest developments in Vienna Talks, he stressed lifting all sanctions which are incompatible with the nuclear deal.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir-Abdollahian stressed addressing Afghan refugees and urged the international community to do its responsibility in this regard.
Meanwhile, Hoekstra expressed hope for visiting Iran and discussing developing bilateral relations in Tehran.
He stressed the Netherlands readiness to promote bilateral relations with Iran.
Amir-Abdollahian and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed and exchanged on the latest state of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Jaishankar said that his country is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in three areas of oil, industry, agriculture, and trade.
He also stressed India's readiness to launch a trade finance line for economic and trade cooperation with Iran.
Amir-Abdollahian met with the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussain on Saturday.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and international developments.
The two sides also discussed the economic projects between the two countries and how to implement the negotiations held between Tehran and Baghdad over the past few months.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has met with his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio as he continued his meetings with the top diplomats participating in the 58th Munich Security Conference.
In the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian and Di Maio discussed ways of expanding bilateral relations and some other issues of mutual interest in the regional and international arenas.
Regarding the talks over lifting sanctions on Iran in Vienna, Amir-Abdollahian stressed, “We are determined to reach a good agreement in the shortest time, but it is unknown how many days or weeks it will take depending on the behavior and will of the United States and Europe's attention to the principles and rules of negotiations and Iran's legitimate rights.”
Amir-Abdollahian also expressed hope that his Italian counterpart will soon visit Tehran. And Luigi Di Maio thanked and welcomed the invitation and expressed hope that he will travel to Tehran in the near future.
The Italian minister of foreign affairs, for his part, stressed during the meeting that the Italian government is committed to pursuing comprehensive cooperation regarding bilateral and multilateral relations with Iran.
Di Maio stressed that the various sectors of the Italian economy have maintained relations with their partners even under the most difficult conditions of sanctions, and this atmosphere will continue regardless of the Vienna developments, but a comprehensive agreement to revive the Iran nuclear deal will certainly create a new space for a leap in relations between Tehran and Rome.
Holding talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde was another part of Amir-Abdollahian's meetings on Saturday on the sidelines of the Conference.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sweden exchanged views on bilateral relations and some issues of mutual concern in the regional and international arenas.
The top Iranian diplomat referred to the sensitivity of the situation in West Asia and the continuing crisis in Yemen and Afghanistan. Regarding the situation in Yemen, he said, “We are seriously concerned about the possibility of the Yemen war spilling over to the region, and the United Nations and the international community must fulfill their responsibilities to handle this situation and help resolve the Yemeni crisis.”
Speaking about the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and the growing trend of refugee influx from this country, the foreign minister emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the country hosting millions of Afghan refugees, cannot alone bear the full burden of this crisis.
Amir-Abdollahian also spoke about Iran's continuous efforts and role-playing to help establish stability and security in the region, including Iran’s assistance to Iraq in the formation of a government in the country as soon as possible, and also participation in the ongoing promising talks in the Persian Gulf region to ensure stability and security by regional countries.
Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde also expressed pleasure with the second meeting with her Iranian counterpart, saying four hundred years of bilateral relations between Tehran and Stockholm and the presence of elite Iranians in Swedish society and two ministers of Iranian descent indicate strong ties and bonds between the two countries and nations.
Linde expressed hope for an increase in the regular exchange of official and diplomatic delegations between the two countries, announcing her readiness to continue Sweden’s current assistance in the vaccination of Afghan refugees in Iran.
The top diplomats of Iran and Sweden also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Vienna talks on the lifting of sanctions on Iran.
Amir-Abdollahian has also met with Sophie Wilmès, Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two top diplomats discussed and exchanged views over bilateral relations and some issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
Iranian FM referred to the good 130-year history of relations between the two countries, saying, "There are many bilateral and multilateral opportunities in ties between the two countries, and the hosting of European institutions in Brussels also adds new dimensions to the bilateral relations and cooperation."
Turning to the impact of the development of economic and trade relations in deepening ties, Amir-Abdollahian described as important, the operation of the Belgian trade and commercial offices and the maintenance of their activities and said this effectively helps build the future of bilateral relations between two countries.
Wilmès, for her part, expressed pleasure with the new meeting with his Iranian counterpart. She further pointed to the various aspects of relations between the two countries and stressed that further development of these ties will have many positive effects in Europe and West Asia.
